Las Salinas del Bebedero, Argentina (photo)

Las Salinas del Bebedero

Las Salinas del Bebedero is a salt marsh located in the Lagunas de Guanacache marshes (marshland in western Argentina in the San Juan provinces), stretching for almost 200 km on the lands of the three western provinces of Argentina.

Salinas del Bebedero is located 42 km southwest of San Luis and 15 km south of the city of Balde, in a tectonic depression formed during the Cenozoic era.

Its area reaches 6,500 hectares!

Salt has been mined here on an industrial scale since 1900, when the water in Laguna del Bebedero began to evaporate rapidly. Extracted salt is used not only as an additive to food, but also used to purify water and create chemical compounds.

This place attracts tourists from all over the world – the photos against the backdrop of the endless salt desert, shining under the sun’s rays, are simply incredible!
